Implementation period: February 2025 to August 2026
Presentation and description:
The project AESOP – Alert-Early System of Outbreaks with Pandemic Potential seeks to develop and implement a geographically localized early alert system for respiratory outbreaks. For this, continuous monitoring of patient visits in Primary Health Care, along with the analysis of clinical and alternative surveillance data, aims for greater accuracy in the early detection of possible outbreaks of respiratory diseases.
Among the initiatives to be carried out to achieve this objective are:
– Development, implementation and validation of anomaly detection algorithms from clinical data;
– Protocols for the collection and analysis of environmental samples of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS);
– Development of detailed maps showing the areas at highest risk for respiratory syndrome outbreaks based on clinical, socioeconomic and bioclimatological factors;
– Creation of an interactive digital platform for training educators and community agents on the prevention and control of respiratory syndromes.
The Outbreak Anticipation System, which uses artificial intelligence and machine, will be implemented starting in 2025 in the capitals of the Northeast and North states of Brazil, with expansion expected to the other municipalities in these regions throughout the study.
The alerts, analyzed and validated by healthcare managers through reports, could anticipate the identification of outbreaks by traditional methods. Developed for administrators and not directly for people who use the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS), AESOP reinforces the relevance of Primary Health Care by improving the detection of outbreaks and benefiting public health and communities.
Beneficiary description:
